I Almost Forgot About You.

It was at the end of September 2010 when I seeded some tiny seeds of Forget Me Not, and this plant surely took a long time to grow.  It was so slow that I almost forgot about it!  However, last week, I noticed little buds at the tips of some stalks, and this week, I finally saw the flowers!

Can you see the buds?  (You can click on the picture to enlarge)

This!  This is it!  I have always wanted to have Forget Me Not in my garden, and now it's official that I do have it!  It surely took a long time to grow(nearly 7 months!) to get to this stage, but I am happy now.

Forget Me Not is a slow grower...

Forget Me Not was one of the first plants I seeded.  So many of them were destroyed by snails and slugs as soon as I planted them in the ground, so I decided to keep some in pots.  I don't know if it's the weather, or if it's just the way this plant is, but Forget Me Not grows slow.  I wonder when I get to see the cute, baby blue flowers??

This picture was taken right after Thanksgiving
(from the last blog on November 30, 2010)

Not much change in 2 weeks.
This picture was taken in the mid-December, 2010

As of today.  The plant IS happy and definitely is growing, but VERY slowly.
I can't want to see the flowers!

No, I Did Not Forget - Forget Me Not Update

I've been procrastinating and haven't made an entry for a while.  Although I didn't post anything here, it doesn't mean that my plants were also holding on.  One of the first seeds I sowed was FORGET ME NOT.  I lost a couple seedlings to snails and slugs - they vanished overnight - and gave some to my friends.  Now I have 5, and all of them are doing well although...FORGET ME NOT grows very slow!

A few days after the last entry on 10/25, I transplanted one of the seedlings to a small pot, and 10 days later, the number of leaves increased.  It seems the plant liked the upgrade :)

About 3 weeks later, I needed to transplant the plant to a larger pot again.  When I pulled it out of the smaller pot, the roots were tangled and obviously wanted a bigger place.  So there!  I hope I can grow it in this pot until it bears flowers.

Forget Me Not is doing fine.

It's been 15 days since the last entry on Forget Me Not.  Thanks to the rare heavy rains we had in the last few weeks in San Diego, my plants are doing well.
In this picture, the 2 middle ones and bottom left one are Forget Me Not.  They are doing pretty well.  I will probably need to plant them in the yard - I have to decide where.

Blanket Flower and Forget Me Not

The seedlings of Blanket Flower and Forget Me Not look very happy, and they grew a little since the last entries.  I decided to give them more room to grow, so I transplanted to a bigger container.

In the 6-pack container, I separated and planted seedlings of Blanket flower and Forget Me Not.  I hope they survive the transplant!

Forget Me Not looks happy.  Also 3 weeks after seed was sowed.

Forget Me Not

"Forget Me Not" has been one of the flowers that I have always liked and wanted to have if I had a yard.  Well?  Now I have my own yard!  I shall plant the seeds and hope they grow to bear those tiny pretty blue flowers.

These are the seeds - how tiny!  It's hard to believe one seed will grow to a plant that bears flowers as I've known.  Again, I used the peat pallets to sow these seeds; I used three pallets and sowed three seeds in each one.

About a week after sowing the seeds, seedlings emerged from the peat pallets.  It's hard to see in this picture, but they are fuzzy!  8 out of 9 seeds germinated - I am happy!
